Dr. Wilco Tymensen receives a Blackfoot name during ceremony

Horizon School Division is proud to congratulate Dr. Wilco Tymensen on receiving the honour of a Blackfoot name during a Naming Ceremony.
This is a culturally significant event where an individual is given a Blackfoot name, in recognition of their contributions and relationships. It's a way of honouring and recognizing someone within the Blackfoot community. Elder Charlie Fox, a respected leader of the Kainai Nations Sacred Horn Society and member of the Blood Tribe, led the naming ceremony in recognition of Dr. Tymensen's lifetime commitment to education, seeing students succeed, and Horizon's contributions to building relationships with the Blackfoot and Indigenous communities.
Wilco was bestowed the Blackfoot name Iinii Ksiksinam (Ee-Nee K'sik-sin-num), meaning Buffalo White (White Buffalo).
Congratulations, Wilco!
