New Principal for Central Elementary School

The Board of Trustees for The Horizon School Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Coral James as the new principal of Central Elementary School commencing January 26, 2024.

Mrs. James has been with Horizon School Division since 2000 and is in her 25th year as an Educator. She began her career as a teacher, then moved into a Learning Support Teacher, Vice Principal and instructional coach roles. She is in her third year as the Coordinator of Learner Services, before accepting this position as Central School principal.

Mrs. James completed her undergraduate combined degree at University of Lethbridge, majoring in English Language Arts and minoring in Drama. Her Masters degree was completed through Walden University with a specialization in Elementary Language Arts and Mathematics. Her past teaching and leadership experience demonstrate meeting student needs through a strength-based approach to help all succeed.

Personally, she enjoys family game nights, traveling and spending time with her husband and two grown children. In her free time she enjoys reading, golfing, watching movies and NFL games, cheering for the Edmonton Oilers and walking her two dogs.

Mrs. James is excited to return to Central School where she has worked before as a Teacher, Vice Principal and Learning Support Teacher for a combined total of ten years. Reconnecting with students, staff and parents is something she looks forward to. When asked to share her thoughts she said it feels like she is ‘coming home’ and is ‘grateful for this opportunity.’

The Board of Trustees is confident Central Elementary School students, staff, and community will benefit from Ms. James’ experience and strong relationships skills.  We look forward to working with Ms. James, parents, and Central Elementary School as they continue to foster quality teaching and optimum learning that is built upon collaboration and effective relationships.

Please join us in congratulating Coral on her new assignment with The Horizon School Division.
