New Principal - ACE Place Learning Centre
The Board of Trustees for The Horizon School Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Bonnie Dyck as the new principal of ACE Place Learning Centre commencing with the 2023-2024 school year.
Ms. Dyck is coming to the Horizon School Division from LCI in Lethbridge where she was previously the Acting Vice Principal responsible for overseeing Inclusive Education at LCI for grades 9-12. Ms. Dyck most recently taught Social Studies and English Language Learners in grades 10-12. Previous to her role as Acting Vice Principal, Ms. Dyck held the position of Learning Support Teacher for approximately 430 students at RI Baker in Coaldale working closely with teachers to support the learning of all students and integrate Inclusive Ed practices in their classrooms.
Ms. Dyck has completed a B.Ed. and a Master of Educational Leadership at the University of Lethbridge, as well she holds a Bachelor of Arts. Ms. Dyck has held various leadership and teaching positions throughout her educational career and has a significant and varied amount of teaching experience to include a core classroom teacher, an ESL teacher, an international teacher and a substitute teacher in a wide range of grades. She shares that her work for several years at RI Baker Middle School as a Learning Support Teacher gave her leadership and administrative experience in meeting a diverse range of learning needs and behaviors and has allowed her to grow and expand her knowledge and experience in this area.
Bonnie is married and a mother of three teenage boys. She indicates her weekends are usually spent at sporting events with her three boys. She enjoys the outdoors and particularly skiing, pickleball, hiking, and mountain biking. Summer is her favorite season, and she enjoys nurturing the salsa garden that she grows each year. Bonnie also enjoys spending time with family, extended family and friends, being active outside and reading.
Bonnie firmly believes that all students can learn, and she has spent most of her career working with students with needs to discover that learning journey. Bonnie states she is honored and thrilled for the opportunity to lead learning at ACE Place.
