Horizon Welcomes New Instructional Coach

The Board of Trustees for Horizon School Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Nicole Hammell as new Instructional Coach commencing the 2025-2026 school year.
Nicole is very grateful for the opportunity to step into the role of Instructional Coach this year! She has taught with Horizon School Division in a variety of roles, starting as a Colony teacher, then teaching Grades 7 and 8 Social Studies, and most recently as a Grade 2/3 classroom teacher and K–12 Learning Support Teacher at the amazing Warner School. Nicole also has experience in English Language Learning, having spent three years teaching in Japan and serving as a program coordinator at Taber’s English Language Drop-in Centre.
Nicole holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Education with a major in Language Arts and a minor in Social Studies. She is currently in her second year of a Master of Education in Literacy and Numeracy at the University of Lethbridge. Nicole is excited to bring her learning into the Instructional Coach role, and equally excited to let this new experience shape her continued learning.
Outside of school, Nicole is the proud mom of a four-year-old daughter, Linnea, and lucky to share life with her wonderfully patient and supportive spouse, Ryan, who graciously puts up with her endless enthusiasm for whatever new thing she’s learning or doing. In her spare time, Nicole enjoys reading, swimming, playing trivia, and board games with family and friends. She’s also a history nerd (currently fascinated by the history of medicine and disease) and a lover of languages and linguistics.
Please join us in welcoming Nicole on her new role as Instructional Coach for the 2025-2026 school year.
