Learning is a Journey

April 27 to May 1 is Education Week. Alberta Education and The Alberta Teachers' Association has chosen to celebrate Education Week with the theme "Learning is a Journey".

"There has been extensive learning these last few weeks as teachers, support staff, students and parents adjust to a new normal. It is only fitting that this year’s education week theme is “Learning is a Journey”. High school graduation, the end of a school year, and even the end of classes during the COVID-19 pandemic is not the end of our journey. Learning is a life-long journey of discovery, not a forced march or race to a destination. The purpose is not to “arrive” at a particular level of proficiency “on time” rather it encounters experiences that change us. Much like a bicycle ride, where you chose the destination, route, and pace. It is these experiences that we encounter along the way that create our memories and shape us. May you continue to learn on your journey, we can’t wait to hear the collection of learning experiences you’ve encountered. We can’t wait to open up the story of you."
