New Principal for D.A. Ferguson Middle School

The Board of Trustees for The Horizon School Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Kimberly Hutzul as the new principal of D.A. Ferguson Middle School commencing with the 2022-2023 school year.                          

Ms. Hutzul has spent the last three years as Vice Principal at D.A. Ferguson middle school while also holding the position of Learning Support Teacher.  During this time, she has taught grade 7 math, CTF, coached, and led various clubs.  Ms. Hutzul’s goal is to make every child feel equally important.  She molds her teaching style to each student’s learning style and thrives on finding innovative ways of supporting diversity within the school. 

Ms. Hutzul has completed a B.Ed, at the University of Saskatchewan, and has held various leadership and teaching positions throughout her educational career.  She shares that she has had the great opportunity to teach Kindergarten through grade 9.  Although she has been a Learning Support Teacher for most of her career, she has been a vice principal and principal as well as a Reading and Language Specialist position, in Chinook School Division, before moving to Taber.  Ms. Hutzul worked for Horizon School Division Colony schools and Dr Hamman School prior to taking on her current role at D.A. Ferguson.  Ms. Hutzul has a certificate in Learning Support and a M. Ed with a specialization in Administration.

Kimberly is an involved community member and volunteers with Taber Viper Swim Club, the Lethbridge Diving Club and the Taber 4H club.  You can regularly see her volunteering around town at various events or watching her students at their activities. 

Kimberly states “I am excited to continue working with the D. A. Ferguson students, staff, and community to enrich our student’s education and sense of community through engaging educational experiences, clubs, sports teams, and school events.  I look forward to continuing to support inclusive ways of learning to ensure the diversity of all students are met.  

The Board of Trustees is confident that the students, staff, and community of D.A. Ferguson Middle School will benefit from Ms. Hutzul’s passion for an inclusive school community, her ability to foster effective relationships, and enhancing quality teaching and optimum learning for all students.
