On November 9, 2021, the Hays School Grade 4-6 Math Class wrote the Grade 5/6 Beaver Computing Challenge (BCC). The BCC is a contest put out by the Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing (CEMC) which is run from the University of Waterloo.
The BCC introduces computer science to students. It is designed to get students with little or no previous experience excited about computing. In our school, two students scored in the top 25% of all students across Canada.
Horizon School Division and Hays School would like to recognize and congratulate Gracie Thiessen (Grade 4) and Cristina Giesbrecht (Grade 5) for their achievement in this contest.
