Donations Needed

Posted on Jul 20, 2020

Horizon School Division’s Family Connections Program is currently seeking donations of supplies for our annual Backpack and Wellness Pack Programs.

Our Backpack Program focuses on providing backpacks full of school supplies for students in Horizon School Division whose families are experiencing financial difficulties. Last year, our Backpack program provided school supplies to approximately 130 students. Given the current financial burden experienced by local families, we have already received over 200 requests for September.

We are seeking the following school supplies:

  • Packages of graph paper
  • Scissors (elementary school)

  • Coloured markers
  • Fine point Sharpie permanent markers
  • Individual pencil sharpeners
  • Individual hand sanitizer (for middle school and high school students - alcohol based)

Our Wellness Pack Program provides educational programming and supplies to encourage body hygiene for students transitioning from elementary school to middle school.

Donation of the following items are welcomed.

  • Toothbrushes

  • Toothpaste (travel size)

  • Dental floss

  • Body Wash (females/males)

  • Gender neutral bar soaps

  • Shampoo

  • Deodorant/Antiperspirant (females/males)
  • Feminine Hygiene Products (excluding tampons - out of respect for cultural differences)

  • Individual Bottles of Hand Sanitizers (Alcohol based)

If you or your company are interested in donating, please contact Eric Burgess, Family Connections Project Manager at 403-223-3547 ext. 10140.

We would like to thank your community partners for their continued involvement in our programs, Inter Pipeline, North & Company LLP, Telus, and Pepsi.
