SUPPORT STAFF
 

SECRETARY REQUIRED

Horizon School Division requires a Part-time Secretary to work approximately 11.25 hours per week.  The successful candidate will be a team focused, independent worker with excellent organizational skills.  Applicants must have advance computer skills and experience.  Work schedule is flexible while maintaining appropriate supports for the Supervisor of Special Education, Grades 1 - 12.  Position, based out of the Division Office in Taber, Alberta, is to commence with the 2010-2011 school year.


Vauxhall Elementary School, Vauxhall
  • 1 English as a Second Language Education Assistant – Monday to Thursday - approx. 21.0 hours/week as assigned.  The ability to speak Low German would be considered an asset. Duties to commence with the 2010-2011 school year.

 

Taber Christian School, Taber  
  • 1 English as a Second Language Education Assistant – Monday to Friday - approx. 20.0 hours/week as assigned.  The ability to speak Low German would be considered an asset. Position to commence with the 2010-2011 school year.

Erle Rivers High School, Milk River

  • Education Assistant – approx. 15.0 hrs/week within the classroom as assigned. Monday to Friday mornings only. Position to commence with the 2010-2011 school year. 

Enchant Colony School, Enchant
  • 1 PUF Assistant – approximately 22.0 hours/week – Monday to Friday. Special Education and Early Childhood experience will be considered assets. Enchant Colony School is located 76 km North West of Taber.

Warner School, Warner

  • 1 PUF Kindergarten Assistant - approx. 15 hours per week. Posiiton to commence with the 2010-2011 school year.

-Tuesday and Thursdays first semester

-Tuesday, Thursday and half day Friday second semester

Oaklane Colony School, Taber

  • 1 PUF Assistant - approximately 15.0 hours/week - Monday to Friday. Early Childhood and Early Childhood experience will be considered assets. Oaklane Colony School is located 21 km South of Taber.

Sunnysite Colony School

  • 1 Education Assistant - approximately 16 hours/week - Monday and Wednesday mornings and Tuesday and Thursday until 2:00PM

Sunnysite Colony School is located 14.5 km West of Warner.  The assistant will work with groups of students as assigned by the teacher.   Applicants should love children and have the ability to work independently at various grade levels. Position to commence with the 2010-2011 school year. 

 

Lomond Colony School

  • 1 Education Assistant - approximately 9 hours/week - 2 or 3 days/week

Lomond Colony School is located 105 km West of Taber.  The assistant will work with groups of students as assigned by the teacher.   Applicants should love children and have the ability to work independently at various grade levels. Position to commence with the 2010-2011 school year. 

Horizon Early Learning Program is looking to fill the following positions for the 2010-2011 school year:

  • 1 Pre-Kindergarten Instructor - approx. 10-12 hrs/week at Hays School. The program runs Monday and Wednesday. Candidates should have Early Childhood Diploma or equivalent. First Aid Certificate will be considered an asset.
  • 1 Pre-Kindergarten Instructor - approx. 10-12 hrs/week at Enchant School. The program runs Monday and Wednesday. Candidates should have Early Childhood Diploma or equivalent. First Aid Certificate will be considered an asset.
  • 1 Pre-Kindergarten Classroom Assistant - approx. 8 hrs/week at Warner School. The program runs Monday and Wednesday. Candidates should have Early Childhood Level 1 Certificate or equivalent. First Aid Certificate will be considered an asset.
  • 1 Pre-Kindergarten Classroom Assistant - approx. 8 hrs/week at Taber Christian School. The program runs Monday and Wednesday. Candidates should have Early Childhood 1 Certificate or equivalent. First Aid Certificate will be considered an asset.
  • 1 Pre-Kindergarten Special Needs Assistant - approx. 9 hrs/week at Milk River Elementary School. The program runs Monday and Wednesday. Candidates should have Early Childhood 1 Certificate or equivalent. First Aid Certificate and Speech and Language training will be considered assets.

Family Connections Coordinator

Horizon School Division is seeking an energetic leader to assume the role of Family Connections Coordinator. This is a full-time non teaching position made available due to the secondment to Alberta Education of the present coordinator.

The Family Connections Program is designed to provide an integrated service approach to meet the mental, social, physical, and emotional needs of the students and their families. Duties and responsibilities of the position include:

  1. Supervise and coordinate the work of the Family Connection workers.
  2. Liaise with other resources/agencies and make necessary referrals ( i.e. counseling, health, education, addictions, financial assistance).
  3. Gather data, evaluate programs and write quarterly reports.
  4. Attend meetings with other agencies, service groups and volunteer groups as required.
  5. Attend Project meetings
  6. Develop program process, structure and communication plan.
  7. Work with school principals to ensure appropriate services and assistance for families and students is in place in the target schools.

Qualifications

The preferred candidate's qualifications include a degree in psychology, social work, education or family studies. Working knowledge of community agencies and supports. Strong Organizational and management skills. Experience in working with outcomes based programs.  An understanding of the Low German Mennonite culture/language would be an asset.
