MISSION STATEMENT

Horizon School Division Colony teachers will strive to enable each Hutterite student to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for becoming responsible citizens of their own community and society at large.  Hutterite students will be self-confident, critical thinkers, who are capable of making informed choices.

 

VISION – The following is a brief description of the fundamental characteristics of education in which Horizon Colony Educators are committed to achieving:

BELIEFS

—We are committed to maximizing the learning of our students during their eight or nine school years, promoting fluency in English.
 
—Colonies have a unique culture.  It is our belief that we must work within and respect this culture.
 
—We are committed to providing high quality education as prescribed by the School Act, using acceptable technology, new research and resources to lead students to be critical thinkers, and to consider multiple perspectives.
 
—Colony teachers are dedicated to the belief that, while various environmental factors may influence children in a colony school, it is our responsibility to continually find ways of making instruction more effective.
